Spring Ducklings Portrait Experience

A Little Spring Magic

There is something pretty special about watching a child meet a tiny duckling.

The curiosity. The giggles. The careful little hands. And usually at least one duckling who has its own ideas about how the portrait session should go.

Each spring, families from Franklin, Nashville, and surrounding Middle Tennessee visit our studio for the Spring Ducklings Portrait Experience, featuring children’s portraits with real ducklings in a beautiful seasonal setting.

A Spring Tradition They Get to Be Part Of

For a short time each spring, our Franklin studio welcomes some very small and very fluffy visitors.

Spring Ducklings has become one of those experiences families look forward to. Children get to meet and interact with real ducklings while we create portraits filled with personality, expression, and all the sweetness of this season of childhood.

Some children can’t wait to hold a duckling. Others want to watch them for a minute first. And sometimes the ducklings have plans of their own.

That’s all part of what makes each session different.

What the Spring Ducklings Experience Is Like

Spring Ducklings sessions are held inside the Misty Westebbe Photography studio in Franklin, Tennessee.

Sessions are approximately 20–30 minutes, giving us enough time to create a beautiful variety of portraits without making the experience too long for younger children.

Throughout the session, your child will have opportunities to interact with the ducklings while we create a variety of spring portraits.

We work with your child’s personality and comfort level throughout the experience. Some children jump right in, while others need a little time before deciding that the tiny feathered visitors are actually pretty interesting.

The result is a collection of portraits that captures both the beauty of the spring setting and who your child is at this age.

Because They Won’t Be This Little Forever

Spring comes back every year.

Childhood doesn’t.

The little fingers holding a duckling, the missing teeth, the curls, the expressions, and the way their face changes when a duckling settles into their lap belong to this particular season of their childhood.

These are the details that become more meaningful as the years pass.

Spring Ducklings gives families a fun experience now and portraits that allow them to remember exactly who their children were during this chapter.

Brothers and Sisters Are Welcome

Spring Ducklings can be just as much fun together.

When siblings participate, we can create individual portraits as well as portraits of them together, as time and cooperation allow.

Sometimes the sweetest part is watching one child confidently hold a duckling while another is still deciding what they think about the whole situation.

What If My Child Is Unsure About the Ducklings?

That’s okay.

A child does not have to immediately hold a duckling to have a wonderful experience.

They can take a little time to look at them, sit near them, or watch what they’re doing before interacting more closely.

We work with each child’s comfort level and never need to force an interaction just for a photograph.

What Should My Child Wear?

Soft spring colors, beautiful textures, and clothing that feels like your child photograph wonderfully with the Spring Ducklings setting.

Creams, soft blues, greens, pinks, pastels, denim, and subtle patterns can all work beautifully.

Once your session is reserved, we’ll help you prepare so you aren’t left wondering what will photograph best.

They’re Only Little Like This for One Spring

The ducklings are here for a short time.

This version of your child is, too.

Come spend a little bit of spring with us and create portraits you’ll be able to look back on long after those tiny hands aren’t quite so tiny anymore.
