The newborn stage is beautiful, but this stage doesn't last long. It's like your sweet newborn is there, and when you close your eyes one time and open them, this stage is gone. Pictures capture these moments, so you can cherish them forever. We want to help you know what to do to make this a special moment for your family, and give you some tips to be prepared for your newborn session.
- Schedule your shoot before the baby is born. The best time to capture these sleepy days are from birth to ten days.
- Plan for a weekday when dad is still off work, so you can get a family shot as well as individual shots.
- Try to schedule early in the day, because newborns seem to like this better.
- Waiting to feed your sweet little one at the studio before the shoot is ideal for getting them into the milk coma.
- Parents need to wear solid and neutral colors for the best results.
- New moms that aren't ready for regular clothes need to wear something comfy and flowy. We will make you feel and look your very best with a full focus on your sweet new baby.
- Loosening up diapers and clothing on baby at least 30 minutes before the shoot will get rid of diaper lines.
- Bring extra formula or plan to nurse during the shoot as needed. These little ones get overstimulated easily and think it's time to eat.
- Bring a pacifier even if they aren't taking it well yet. This can be a big help throughout the session.
- Think of anything you would want to add to your shoot; this could be clothing you or your spouse wore as a baby, blankets, hats, rattles, or special toys.
- It is always great to have a helping hand from a grandparent or relative if someone is available. They love to be included in the experience!
