We normally have all of our family together during the holidays but finding a professional photographer on "Christmas day" might be impossible. Don't worry!
Use these tips to take beautiful family pictures on your own.
Use Natural Light
Don't use your flash. The flash will give you harsh lighting. Instead, find natural light to brighten up your picture. Even if that day is overcast, you can use it. It might feel gloomy to you, but it will give your picture soft lighting and make it beautiful!
If it's a bright sunny day, the porch lighting is great to be able to naturally filter the light. Or even find a tree with shade to help filter it.
Find a Good Background
Your beautiful family needs to be the focus of the image. Make sure that the background is simple and a different color than the clothes your family is wearing.
Put Your iPhone/Camera on a tripod
Using a tripod will help to keep the camera steady and keep your image from being blurry.
Use the Timer on Your iPhone/Camera
Using the timer will make it to where no one is left out of the family picture. Set the timer and then go get in your place!
Horizontal Instead of Vertical
Naturally, when we use our phone we hold it vertically. Try changing it up and shooting with landscape. This will give you more space for your family with a closer view.
Make Sure Your Lens is Clean
We don't think about cleaning the lens of our iPhone/camera. Before you take pictures, make sure you wipe it off so your pictures are crystal clear.
Have Some Fun
We always think about that perfect picture where everyone is looking at the camera and smiling. Don't forget to have some fun and take some silly or candid shots. A lot of times, these are my favorites because they show everyone's personality!
