Here are 4 more beautiful ladies from our 50 Over 50 Project, showing their true beauty shining through their eyes and telling their story of life. We want to show women that aging doesn't have to bring you down but instead can lift you!
Meet Stephanie and hear her story...
I am a pastor's wife and a mom of 3 daughters and a bonus daughter and son. I retired in December 2018 after 34 years as a public educator in teaching and administration. I now work part-time as an adjunct professor and reading tutor for elementary students.
I took my first job at age 15 in Tallulah Bankhead National Forest as part of the Youth Conservation Corps. After that experience, no job has been physically that hard!
We asked her if she had anything to say to others about aging and this is what she had to say, "Keep moving, eat healthy, and love with your whole heart. Growing older can just be more chapters to learn from."
Meet Lisa and hear her story...
I am a therapist in private practice in Franklin. I am a mom of a teenage daughter and have been married to my husband for 20 years. I am 53 years young.
I married later in life. At 33 years old. Beautiful daughter adopted from China and I am so grateful for the journey we took 15 years ago to China to meet her and add her to our family. Being a mom is a very important part of my life—-And in so many ways I am grateful to have started parenting later in life.
We asked her if she had anything to say to others about aging and this is what she had to say, "I think women in their 50s and 60s look younger than they used to. And I think aging is an interesting process… It requires a lot of acceptance and looking for the silver linings (no pun intended!). There are trade-offs… My body might not work as efficiently but hopefully, the trade-off is greater wisdom And greater insight."
Meet Julie and hear her story...
I am 63 years old, the mother of two married daughters, and grandmother to a 4yr old granddaughter and a 2yr old grandson. I was a military wife for 20yrs., I am a cancer survivor, and I was widowed suddenly when I was 56yrs old.
I married my college sweetheart after graduation, and we set off on the adventure of his career as a Naval Aviator. My job was to be supportive of him, hold down the fort, and keep the home fires burning. I did it without resentment and raised our girls, often without him. He always wanted to fly, and his second career was commercial aircraft. He got to do what he loved until the day he died. I’m proud of the role I played in support of that. It made me who I am - strong, independent, resilient, courageous. I’m proud of that too.
We asked her if she had anything to say to others about aging and this is what she had to say, "Aging is a funny thing. In my head, I am still young! I see my friends change in appearance, but not so much myself. I try to look my best and put my best self forward every day. My friends tell me I’m a “joyful” person. My faith has gotten me through the trials I’ve faced and I am truly grateful for each new day!"
Meet Judy and hear her story...
I am 61 years young! Mother of 2 adult children, and a rottweiler named Jack! (he will be in my next photoshoot) I am a National Certified Master Groomer, I own and operate a successful mobile grooming business out of Nashville, TN. I am also an International Speaker and Grooming contest Judge. For fun I am a consultant for Rodan and Fields (cause everyone needs some fun money) and helping other women succeed is a passion of mine!
I started my career in Dog grooming because the groomer at the vet's office I worked in walked out on a Saturday morning. I picked up a grooming book and started grooming! Self-taught for the most part. Then on a shoestring and a prayer, I started my mobile business. I stay booked a year in advance! Never in my life did I think it would literally take me all over the world!
Don't be afraid to switch careers no matter your age! Sometimes it's the best thing that ever happens to you!
We asked her if she had anything to say to others about aging and this is what she had to say, "You are as young as you feel! Don't ever let anyone tell you you can't do that because you are X years old! Never slow down and Never say quit unless you want to! At 61, I went rock climbing with my kids and went to the top of the wall on the first trip! Take control of your health and fitness."
