Hear Linda’s amazing story...
I was born in Franklin and moved back after my husband retired. I worked in banking and real estate. We had 5 children. I love to cook and piddle in the yard. Love all animals— dogs, cats, horses, and elephants!
We asked her if she had anything to say to others about aging, and this is what she had to say, "As far as aging, don’t worry about it! Enjoy every day. God gave you this life so enjoy each day in this beautiful world—it’s your beautiful gift from him! Remember Heaven—Heaven is the place where all the animals you ever loved come to greet you!"
As I talked with Linda, she told me about how she loved elephants and that if you look them in the eye, they will never forget you. She also told me about the elephant sanctuary that is not far from here where the elephants live in retirement. So fun to learn!
Meet Sharon and hear her story...
I'm a nurse by profession and taught nursing for several years. I've also been lucky enough to dabble in other areas of interest, working as a gymnastics coach, gymnastics judge, and also a seamstress. I am a mom of four children and a grandma to a beautiful 21-month-old little girl. I am 6 weeks post-op mastectomy patient.
We asked her if she had anything to say to others about aging and this is what she had to say, "There are many who didn't make it to this point. Enjoy every stage of your life and always focus on your blessings."
Meet Kim, hear her story, and her advice on aging...
When a friend asked me if I wanted to get my picture taken for a project called Fifty Women Over Fifty I said NO. I asked myself why I would want to announce that I’m aging. I’m a vocal coach. The music business is a youth-driven industry. My students fear they're too old to get a record deal if they are over twenty-five, so where does that put me? Not wanting to highlight my age.
Of course, the question made me think a lot the rest of the day. How do I feel about my life right now? Time has taught me that when an opportunity falls right into our path, it may be for a reason with something to teach us. So, I said YES to going to a photo shoot and sharing my thoughts about aging. I had fun picking out clothes I love to wear. In front of the bright light, I felt creative. After the session, Misty showed me my pics, and I cringed a couple of times over the lines on my face. I just looked older than I felt. Hallelujah for photoshop. Ha. Seriously, that sums up aging. I think we are ageless spirits living in an aging physical body. Fully accept it! No resistance to reality. I took a deep breath, got past my negative thoughts, and then was able to see what was wonderful about the pictures.
From a movie recently, I picked up a new perspective. It’s that we don’t stop doing things because we are aging. We age because we stop doing what we LOVE. When I’m at the Theatre, or riding a bike, or singing, I feel just as energetic as when I was a kid. There is no age when you lose track of time doing what you LOVE. I framed this quote and put it in my studio after turning fifty.
DO MORE OF WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY.
~ Carmel McConnell
The wisdom of aging has me “chasing” less and being present with what I do have with great appreciation. I prioritize doing what makes me happy more than ever. If not now, when? All the decades of adventure have taught me so much. I want to pay it forward and use my life experience to help other younger people chase their big beautiful dreams with more focus. Maybe I can help them avoid a few unnecessary falls along the way. Give them what I wish I knew at their age. I’ll keep learning to love myself unconditionally more with every new birthday so I can share that with others. Here’s to blowing out another candle!
Meet Leslie and hear her story...
I am passionate about helping women find a more meaningful life and empower them to create the life they dream of. I am a Transformational Coach. I have used all the techniques that I share with my clients to turn my life around, and now I live in a very empowered intentional way. I have rewired my thinking, taking me from victim mentally to full responsibility and conscience mindset. A much more empowered way of living. One reason people age prematurely is stress. Stress is triggered by your mindset. Getting a hold of your thoughts and emotions is a ticket to less stress, happier way of living and less wrinkles.
