“I Found a Being Who Needed Me as Much as I Needed Her.”

Laura & Harper

“She is literally my everything.”

That’s how Laura describes Harper.

From the moment Harper jumped into her lap at the shelter, it was instant love. Not something that grew slowly — something immediate and certain.

Harper became her constant companion. Her steady presence. The child she never had.

But 2025 tested that bond in ways neither of them expected.

When the Year Felt Uncertain

Before that fall — before the fractures — there had already been a long stretch of ongoing illness.

Emergency visits.
Unexpected scares.
Appointments that kept pushing the portrait experience further and further down the calendar.

Each time they rescheduled, it wasn’t inconvenience. It was priority.

Harper’s health came first.

There were moments Laura didn’t know what the next month would bring. Moments when uncertainty quietly settled in.

And then came the fall — 13 feet onto hardwood — adding another layer to an already fragile year.

It wasn’t just one event.

It was endurance.

Choosing to Honor This Chapter

Participating in Tails of Franklin began as a way to showcase Harper and support the shelter where she was adopted.

But after a year like that, the experience became something more.

It became a way to mark survival.

A way to say:
She is still here.
We made it through.
This chapter matters.

Being present with Harper during the experience reminded Laura of that very first moment at the shelter — instant love.

It wasn’t about drama or perfection.

It was about honoring the bond that carried them through uncertainty.

Holding This Season in Her Hands

Now, when Laura opens Harper’s Album, everything comes back.

The shelter.
The illness.
The emergency visits.
The accident.
The overwhelming gratitude that Harper is still beside her.

“It reminds me every day that I am the luckiest mother in the world,” Laura said. “Because I found a being who needed me as much as I needed her.”

The Album doesn’t just show Harper.

It holds the story of resilience.

It enhances the bond they already had by giving it a tangible place to live — something she can return to, hold, and feel.

And one day, when Harper is no longer here, those pages will carry comfort rooted in truth: they walked through a hard season together.

Not Someday — Now

For Laura, this wasn’t about waiting.

It was about honoring a connection that had proven its strength.

It was about recognizing that rescue dogs deserve to be celebrated.

It was about acknowledging that love — especially love that survives a long, uncertain year — deserves to be preserved while we can still hold it.

When she opens Harper’s Album, she isn’t just turning pages.

She’s remembering resilience.
She’s feeling gratitude.
She’s celebrating that they are still here — together.

And that is exactly why she chose to do it now.
